ACTIVE INGREDIENT
Each yellow film coated tablet contains Amitriptyline Hydrochloride B.P 25mg
CONTRAINDICATIONS
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Amitriptyline is taken by mouth;
Depression
Adults: 50-75mg a day either in divided doses or as a single night dose increasing to 150-200mg a day
Maintenance dose: 50-100mg daily at night should be given to lessen the chances of relapse
Adolescents and elderly: initial 25-50mg a day either in divided doses or as a single night dose
Maintenance dose: 25-50mg daily may be sufficient
Nocturnal enuresisÂ
Children only (for no longer than 3 months)
11-16 years: 25-50mg at night
6-10 years: 10-20mg at night
ADDED INFORMATION
Amitriptyline should not be taken during the first and last 3 months of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
CAUTION
Amitriptyline may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive or use machinery.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, tiredness, decreased libido, confusion, difficulty concentrating, nightmares, delusion and headache. Less common ones include allergic reactions, hepatitis, feeling faint when getting up, low sodium level.
STORAGE
Store in a cool dry place below 30°C. protect from light.
Do not use after the expiry date.
