High blood pressure (hypertension)
Angina (a type of severe chest pain)
Heart failure
Heart failure following a recent heart attach
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Allergy to carvedilol or any other component of this medicine
Asthma or history of asthma
Liver disease
Severe hypotension
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Hypertension
12.5mg (one 12.5mg tablet or half a 25mg tablet) once daily for the first two days, then one 25mg tablet once daily. If necessary, after at least two weeks, the dose may be increased to 50mg per day
Angina
12.5mg twice daily for the first two days, then 25mg twice a day. If necessary, after at least two weeks, the dose may be increased to 50mg twice a day. Maximum of four 25mg tablets per day.
Heart failure
6.25mg two times a day. If the 6.25mg dose is tolerated, the dose can be increased at intervals of 3-10 days to 12.5mg twice daily up to a maximum of 25mg twice daily.
Your doctor will decide which dose is best for you and monitor you carefully each time the dose is changed or increased
ADDED INFORMATION
Swallow the tablets whole or halved with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablets
Take this medicine during or immediately after a meal, at about the same times each day.
WARNING
Do not take an extra dose to make up for a forgotten dose
Do not stop taking this medicine or change the dose without first checking with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not give carvedilol to anyone else even if they have the same condition as you.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Abdominal discomfort, confusion, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, rash, vomiting, vision abnormalities, dry or sore eyes, oedema (swelling), pain in your fingers and/or toes, unusual hair loss or thinning.
STORAGE
Keep your tablets in the blister until it is time to take them.
Store in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 25°C.
Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
