APROVEL 150MG (IRBESARTAN) TABLETS

Why do you need this medicine?
Aprovel contains the antihypertensive Irbesartan. It belongs to the class of medicines called Angiotensive II receptor blockers (ARBs).

ACTIVE INGREDIENT
Each tablet contains 150mg of irbesartan.

INDICATIONS
for the treatment of essential hypertension.
for the treatment of renal disease in adult patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus as part of an antihypertensive medicinal product regimen.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
The concomitant use of Aprovel with aliskiren-containing products is contraindicated in patients with diabetes mellitus or renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate (GFR) < 60 ml/min/1.73m2.

DOSAGE
The usual recommended initial and maintenance dose is 150 mg once daily.
initiation of therapy with 75 mg could be considered, particularly in haemodialyzed patients and in the elderly over 75 years.
In patients insufficiently controlled with 150 mg once daily, the dose of Aprovel can be increased to 300 mg, or other antihypertensive agents can be added.
In hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients, therapy is initiated at 150 mg irbesartan once daily and titrated up to 300 mg once daily as the preferred maintenance dose for treatment of renal disease.

ADDED INFORMATION
This medicine can be taken with or without food.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per tablet, that is to say essentially ‘sodium-free
This medicine contains lactose. You should not take it if you have an intolerance to galactose, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

CAUTION
This medicine is for oral use only
This medicine is not recommended in pregnancy

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT
Abdominal pain, back pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, hyperkalemia, vomiting, orthostatic hypotension, fatigue.

Do not store above 30°C
