CEFSAFE (CEFUROXIME) 500MG

Why do you need to give this medicine? This medication is indicated for the treatment of pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bacterial otitis media, maxillary sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia, acute and chronic bronchitis, skin and skin-structure infections, lower UTIs, Gonorrhea, Early Lyme disease, Meningitis and for surgical prophylaxis

INGREDIENTS

Each film coated tablet contains 500mg of Cefuroxime Axetil

ADDED INFORMATION

Do not use if allergic to or intolerant of any of the ingredients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Known allergy to cephalosporins

Psuedomembraneous colitis

DOSAGE

For adults 13 years and above:

For pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis, 250mg twice daily for 5-10 days

For, chronic bronchitis, skin and skin-structure infections, 250-500mg twice daily for 10 days

For acute bronchitis, 250-500mg twice daily for 5-10 days

For uncomplicated UTI, 125-250mg twice daily for 7-10 days

For uncomplicated gonorrhea, 1000mg single dose

For lyme disease, 500mg twice daily for 20 days

For children 12 years and below,

For pharyngitis or tonsillitis, 125mg twice daily for 5-10 days

Acute otitis media and Acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis, 250mg twice daily for 10 days

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS 

This drug may cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort. Rarely, angioedema, pruritus or rash may occur. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING

May be present in breastmilk

Tke medicine 1 to 2 hours after taking antacids

STORAGE

Store in a dry place with temperature maximum of 30oC. Protect from sunlight and heat.
