CHLORAMPHENICOL CHLORTRUST EYE-EAR

Why do you need to give this medicine? This medication is an antibiotic. It’s mainly used to treat eye infections (such as conjunctivitis) and ear infections.

INGREDIENTS

This product contains 0.5%w/v of Chloramphenicol

ADDED INFORMATION

This product also contains phenyl mercuric nitrate 0.001%w/v as a preservative. Avoid its use if hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity.

Bone marrow suppression

Pregnant and lactating mothers

DOSAGE

For otitis media/externa

Adult: 2-3 drops 2-3 times a day

Child: 2-3 drops 2-3 times a day.

For eye infections

Adult: 1 drop every 2 hours, then reduce frequency as infection is controlled. Use for 48 hours after healing.

Child:  1 drop every 2 hours, then reduce frequency as infection is controlled. Use for 48 hours after healing.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS 

This drug can lead to irritability and ototoxicity. These adverse effects are rare. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING

Do not give this medication to infants due to risk of gray baby syndrome.

Discontinue drug if severe adverse effects are seen, and report to the hospital.

Discard solution if the contents are cloudy.

Do not use this product after 1 month of opening.

STORAGE

Store in a dry place with temperature maximum of 25oC. Protect from sunlight.
