CITALOPRAM
Citalopram is used for treating depression (including preventing symptom recurrence) and panic disorders in adults.

INGREDIENTS
Each film coated tablet contains 20mg of Citalopram hydrobromide.

ADDED INFORMATION
The therapeutic effects usually appear after 2 – 4 weeks; further improvement is to be expected if taken for a longer period.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to citalopram
Concurrent monoamine oxidase inhibitor or use of MAOi within the last two weeks
Congenital heart rhythm abnormalities
Use of drugs that affect heart rhythm with citalopram

DOSAGE
Adults
Treatment of depression: The usual dose is 20 mg per day. Maximum of 40 mg per day. 

Treatment of panic disorders:
The starting dose is 10 mg per day for the first week, before increasing the dose to 20-30 mg per day. Maximum of 40 mg per day. 

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
This drug may cause headache, drowsiness, insomnia, nausea, dry mouth, increased sweating, anorexia, agitation, restlessness, decreased libido, and other side effects. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING
Do not use in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age.
Be cautious when driving and operating heavy machinery while using this drug.
Do not use in pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks.
Do not use alcohol while taking this drug.
Do not use this drug with class 1 and 3 anti-arrhythmic.

STORAGE
Store in a dry place with temperature maximum of 25oC. Protect from sunlight.
