CLARITHROMYCIN SUSP
Clarithromycin is used to treat bacterial infections that have been properly diagnosed by your treating physician, such as: chest infections like bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia, throat and sinus infections, skin and tissue infections (e.g. impetigo, erysipelas, erythrasma), and in combination with appropriate ulcer healing for Helicobacter pylori infection associated with duodenal ulcer (only for adults). Clarithromycin tablets are indicated for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.

Each 5mls contains 125mg of clarithromycin

This drug is not recommended for use in children below 12 years unless indicated by a doctor. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity
Hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia
Concurrent use with drugs like terfenadine, cisapride, pimozide, atorvastatin,
Simvastatin and lovastatin.

DOSAGE
Adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older) should take 250 mg twice a day for chest, throat, or sinus infections, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. In severe cases, the doctor may increase the dose to 500 mg twice a day. The typical treatment duration ranges from 6 to 14 days. For Helicobacter pylori infection related to duodenal ulcers, Clarithromycin should be administered at a dose of 500 mg twice daily alongside other medications for Helicobacter pylori treatment as prescribed by a healthcare provider. The recommended total daily dose for children is 15 mg per kilogram of body weight (up to a maximum of 1,000 mg per day), split into two equal doses given 12 hours apart.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
This drug may cause nausea, diarrhea, increased sweating, abnormal liver function, headache, dizziness, sleeping problems, or taste disorders. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING
Talk to your doctor or, pharmacist before taking Clarithromycin tablets if:
You are allergic to the antibiotics lincomycin or clindamycin
You have any liver or kidney problems
You have heart problems, in particular heart rhythm problems (e.g. long QT syndrome)
You have or are prone to fungal infections (e.g. thrush)
You have diabetes
You are pregnant or breast-feeding
You develop severe diarrhoea while taking Clarithromycin tablets, or even several weeks after you have stopped taking it.

STORAGE
Keep out of the sight and reach of children, and do not store above 30˚C
