Why do you need to give this medicine? Exoclav suspension  is a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid. Exoclav suspension is used orally to treat many bacterial infections of the lungs, middle ear, sinuses, skin, teeth, and urinary tract. Amoxicillin interferes with the growth and division process of the bacterial cell wall while Clavulanic acid enhances the activity of Amoxicillin against bacteria.

INGREDIENTS

5 ml of Exoclav suspension contains 200 mg of Amoxicillin and 28.5 mg of Clavulanic acid.

5 ml of Exoclav suspension contains 400 mg of Amoxicillin and 57mg of Clavulanic acid.

ADDED INFORMATION

The suspension should be prepared at the time of dispensing. The bottle should be tapped until the powder flows freely and for reconstitution add approximately 2/3rd of the total amount of water. After, add the remaining water and shake vigorously. Before using, the suspension bottle should be shaken vigorously. The reconstituted suspension should be stored in the refrigerator and discarded after ten days.

DOSAGE

Recommended dose: 20 mg/ 5mg to 60 mg/15 mg per kg of body weight a day, given in three divided doses.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and skin rash.

INTERACTIONS

Interact with Doxycycline, Methotrexate, Warfarin, Live vaccines.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to penicillins. This suspension is not usually recommended for adults and children weighing 40 kg and over.

Exoclav suspension can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Usage of Exoclav suspension without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing (overuse of antibiotics) might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of the development of bacteria that are antibiotic-resistant.

STORAGE

Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

Store dry powder at a temperature not above 25° C.

Store liquid suspension in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C)
