Celebrating 14 Years of Healthcare Excellence and Visionary Growth

The SCAB Pharmacy Story

On 11th November 2011, SCAB Pharmacy opened its first doors in Wenchi, Ghana. From a modest beginning, SCAB has evolved into one of the most trusted healthcare groups in Ghana. Our journey reflects unwavering commitment, strategic innovation, and a clear vision to transform healthcare access nationwide.

A Vision Realized and a Future Embraced

Founded by Dr. Stephen Clark Bandoh, SCAB Pharmacy began with a singular mission: delivering quality, accessible healthcare to all Ghanaians. This vision laid the foundation for a company that has grown from one pharmacy to over 65 retail outlets and 25 branches, serving regions like Bono, Ashanti, Northern Ghana, and Greater Accra.

Looking forward, SCAB Group aspires to become Ghana’s foremost innovative and customer-centric healthcare and allied group. Our roadmap aims to scale retail stores from 65 to 100+ within the next 12 months, expand wholesale leadership including entry into Côte d’Ivoire, and enhance hospital services, digital platforms, and cross-division synergy.

Excellence in Operations and Stakeholder Assurance

Our management team consists of highly skilled professionals who uphold operational excellence with robust systems designed to safeguard stakeholder wealth. Advanced initiatives such as 24/7 store monitoring dashboards and AI-driven expiry tracking models exemplify our commitment to efficient, transparent operations.

Community Impact and Empowerment

Beyond business growth, SCAB continuously invests in communities. Over 500 families depend on us for dignified livelihoods, with more than 25 pharmacists leading patient care and training future healthcare leaders. We regularly conduct community health check-ups, raising awareness and improving health outcomes at the grassroots.

Digital Innovation: The SCAB E-Pharmacy Platform

Our digital platform, accessible at www.scabpharmacy.com, is transforming how Ghanaians access medicines. Customers can browse products online, place secure orders, and enjoy home delivery. We are enhancing this platform with subscriptions for chronic medicines auto-refills and integrating expiry clearance sales for better pricing and waste reduction.

Milestones and Ambitions

  • By end of 2026: Scale retail stores to 100+ across Ghana, with priority in regional capitals including Takoradi, Tamale, and Cape Coast.
  • Product portfolio: CEO’s vision targets registering 200+ trusted healthcare products by the 15th anniversary in 2026, expanding to over 500 products by 2031.
  • Wholesale Expansion: Growth into West African markets, including a wholesale hub in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
  • Hospital Services: Enhanced claims reporting systems, telemedicine integration, and revenue assurance initiatives.

Commitment to Stakeholders and Customers

We thank our customers for their unwavering support and trust. Our loyalty program, SCAB Health Card, unites retail, hospital, and online pharmacy customers to enhance their healthcare experience. Our ongoing investment in staff training and data analytics ensures services remain industry-leading and customer-centric.

Recognition of Leadership

In 2025, Dr. Stephen Clark Bandoh was inducted into the Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame, a testament to visionary leadership that continues to drive SCAB’s transformative impact on Ghanaian healthcare.

As SCAB Pharmacy turns 14, we are more energized and focused than ever on delivering innovative, inclusive, and trusted healthcare to every Ghanaian home — today, tomorrow, and for decades to come.
