Description:
Bioflor 250mg Sachet is a probiotic powder for oral suspension containing lyophilized (freeze-dried) Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745, a beneficial yeast strain. It helps restore and maintain intestinal flora balance, treating acute infectious diarrhea in infants, children, and adults, preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea, preventing recurrence of Clostridium difficile infections (as adjunct to antibiotics), and preventing tube-feeding-associated diarrhea. It acts through luminal (anti-toxin/anti-adhesion), trophic (gut lining support), and immune-modulating effects without being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Directions/Usage:
- Adults and children: 1–2 sachets once or twice daily (up to max 4 sachets/day in divided doses). Infants/children: 1–2 sachets daily (adjust per age/condition). Pour contents into a small amount of water, sweetened beverage, milk, or mix with food (e.g., baby’s bottle). Stir well and drink immediately. Do not mix with very hot (>50°C), very cold/iced, or alcoholic liquids/foods (kills live yeast). Duration typically up to 2 weeks or until symptoms resolve; follow healthcare advice. Rehydration is essential alongside use for diarrhea.
Common Side Effects:
- Generally well-tolerated; mild and rare effects include flatulence (gas), constipation, headache, bloating, or mild GI discomfort. Very rare: allergic reactions (pruritus, urticaria, rash, angioedema), anaphylaxis, or fungemia (yeast in blood). Not known: sepsis in critically ill/immunocompromised patients.
Package Type:
- Paper/aluminum/polyethylene composite sachet (containing light-brown powder); box of 10 sachets
Storage Advice:
- Store away from humidity at a temperature below 30°C (do not refrigerate or freeze). Protect from light and moisture. Keep in original packaging. Do not use after expiry date. Keep out of reach of children.
Safety Advice:
- Contains living yeast cells—do not use with antifungal drugs (oral/systemic) as they kill the probiotic. Contains lactose, fructose, and sorbitol—caution in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or rare lactase deficiency (may cause GI upset). Contraindicated in patients with central venous catheter, critically ill, or immunocompromised (risk of fungemia/sepsis). Not for use in patients with known hypersensitivity to yeast or ingredients. Consult doctor before use in pregnancy (advisable to avoid; limited data) or breastfeeding. If diarrhea persists, worsens, or includes blood/fever, seek medical attention (do not replace rehydration therapy). Report any unusual symptoms (e.g., fever in vulnerable patients) immediately.
