CEFTAZIDIME FORTUM INJ 1G AMP

Why do you need to give this medicine? This medication is a cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections and for surgical prophylaxis.

INGREDIENTS

Each vial contains 1g of ceftazidime pentahydrate

ADDED INFORMATION

Each vial contains 52mg of sodium per 1g dose

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Known allergy to cephalosporins

DOSAGE

0-2months: 25-60mg/kg in two divided doses

>2 months and children <40kg: 100-150mg/kg in 3 divided doses

Adults and children>40kg: 1-2g three times daily

Max dose:9g

Maximum for patients over 65 years: 3g daily.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS 

This drug may cause swelling or redness at injection site, diarrhoea, rashes. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING

Do not use if you notice the solution is cloudy.

Do not store above 25oC.
