Description

Ciplox-D Eye Drop is a combined antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) and corticosteroid (dexamethasone) ophthalmic solution, also containing benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. It’s used to treat bacterial eye infections and associated inflammation—such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and postoperative ocular inflammation—while providing symptomatic relief. 

Prescription

This is a prescription-only medication—you should use it only under medical supervision. 

Dosage

• Typically administered as 1–2 drops in the affected eye, several times daily (frequency as prescribed by a healthcare provider).
• Treatment duration usually ranges from 5–7 days, or as indicated by the physician. 
• Always complete the full course, even if symptoms improve early.

Consume Type

Topical ophthalmic solution — administered directly into the eye (or ear, if directed), not intended for internal consumption. 

Directions / Usage

1. Shake well before each use (if instructed). 
2. Wash your hands thoroughly.
3. Tilt the head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket.
   Hold the dropper close (without touching the eye) and instill the prescribed drops.
4. Release eyelid and gently press the inner corner of the eye to help absorption for about 1 minute.
5. If using multiple eye medications, wait at least 5–10 minutes between them. 
6. Recap immediately and avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.

Common Side Effects

• Temporary burning, stinging, irritation, or redness at the application site
• Blurred vision immediately post-application (avoid driving during this time)
• Increased intraocular pressure with prolonged use—monitor if used long term
• Possible allergic reactions including rash or swelling

Storage Advice

Store in a cool, dry place at 15–25 °C, protected from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children. 

Safety Advice

• Use only for bacterial infections; avoid if viral, fungal, or parasitic infection is suspected, as corticosteroids may exacerbate these. 
• Avoid contact lens use while using this medication and until the infection resolves. 
• Use cautiously in glaucoma or ocular hypertension—monitor eye pressure if treatment exceeds 10 days. 
• Discontinue and consult doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 7 days of use.
