Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated is a traditional, non-drowsy oral cough remedy designed to relieve symptoms of chesty (productive/wet) coughs and sore throats. It acts as an expectorant to help loosen and expel phlegm (mucus) from the chest, while menthol provides relief from congestion in chesty coughs and bronchitis. • Levomenthol 4 mg (menthol for congestion relief)
• Squill Tincture 0.6 ml (expectorant to help remove phlegm)
• Liquorice Liquid Extract 0.125 ml (expectorant and soothing agent) Other ingredients: Peppermint oil, anise oil, capsicum tincture (contains capsicum oleoresin, ethanol), syrup (sucrose), liquid glucose, magnesium aluminium silicate, sodium methyl/ethyl/propyl parahydroxybenzoates (E215, E219), glycerol (E422), caramel (E150c), purified water. Contains alcohol (ethanol) ~282 mg per 5 ml dose (equivalent to less than 7 ml beer or 3 ml wine), sucrose 1.3 g, glucose 1.3 g per 5 ml.

Directions/Usage:

Shake the bottle well before use. Take orally.

• Adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years: 1 or 2 x 5 ml spoonfuls every 4 hours if required.
• Children 5–12 years: 1 x 5 ml spoonful every 4 hours if required. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Use as needed for symptom relief (typically short-term; consult if cough persists >3–5 days). Not for children under 5 years without medical advice.

Common Side Effects:

• Generally well-tolerated; rare and mild effects include hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., dermatitis, skin rash, flushing, itchy lumps/hives), gastrointestinal upset (e.g., nausea), or effects from liquorice (higher sodium/water retention or low potassium leading to muscle weakness, confusion, disorientation, irregular heartbeat in prolonged/excessive use).
