Description:

Lisinopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and to improve survival after a heart attack. It works by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. 

Prescription:

• Prescription-only medication.​

Dosage:

• Hypertension (Adults): Starting dose is typically 10 mg once daily. Maintenance dose ranges from 20 to 40 mg once daily. Maximum dose is 80 mg/day. 
• Heart Failure: Starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily. Usual effective dose ranges from 5 to 20 mg once daily. 
• Post-Myocardial Infarction: Start with 5 mg within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms, followed by 5 mg after 24 hours, then 10 mg after 48 hours, and then 10 mg once daily. 
• Pediatric Hypertension (6 years and older): Starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily for patients weighing 20 to <50 kg, and 5 mg once daily for those ≥50 kg. Maximum doses are 20 mg and 40 mg respectively. ​ 

Note: Dosage adjustments may be necessary for patients with renal impairment or those on diuretic therapy

Active Ingredients/Composition:

• Active Ingredient: Lisinopril dihydrate equivalent to 10 mg of lisinopril.

• Available in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg tablet strengths.​ 

Consume Type:

• Oral tablet.​ 

Directions/Usage:

• Take once daily at the same time each day. 
• Can be taken with or without food. 
• Swallow tablets whole with water. 
• Do not discontinue without consulting your healthcare provider.​
