Metolazone is a thiazide-like diuretic (“water pill”) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and fluid retention (edema) associated with conditions such as congestive heart failure and kidney disorders. It works by helping the kidneys eliminate excess fluid and salt from the body. ​

Dosage:

• Hypertension: 2.5–5 mg orally once daily; may be increased to 20 mg once daily as needed. 
• Edema: 2.5–10 mg orally once daily initially; may be gradually increased to 20 mg once daily.
