Ophthalmic (eye) solution; packaged in a 5 mL dropper bottle. 

Directions/Usage:

The usual dose: one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily (about 12 hours apart). 

•  If using multiple eye drops, space them at least 5 minutes apart. 
•  Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or other surfaces.
•  Replace the cap after use.
•  Do not use more frequently than prescribed.

Some known side effects include: Eye burning, stinging, irritation, redness, itching, conjunctival hyperemia Blurred vision, ocular discomfort Dry eye, eyelid irritation Systemic absorption may cause bradycardia, hypotension, respiratory effects in susceptible patients (because of timolol component) Allergic reactions (rare) 

 Keep the bottle tightly closed.

Do not use after the expiration date.

 Keep out of reach of children.

– Use caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment

– Avoid use in neonates or infants — safety in children under 2 years is contraindicated. 

– May mask signs of hypoglycemia in diabetics (due to beta-blocker effects)

– Monitor for systemic effects, especially when bilateral dosing (timolol may enter systemic circulation)

– Remove contact lenses before instillation; wait 15 minutes before reinserting lenses (because preserved solution)

– Avoid use with other ocular hypotensive agents without spacing

– Discontinue if severe ocular irritation or hypersensitivity occurs

– In patients with vascular insufficiency disorders (e.g. Raynaud’s) use caution, as beta-blockers may exacerbate

– Inform your physician about systemic medications (e.g. other beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers) due to interactions

– Use during pregnancy / lactation only if benefits justify risk

– Do not share your eye drops with others to avoid cross-infection

Monotherapy alternatives (timolol eye drops, brimonidine alone, prostaglandin analogs) depending on patient’s IOP target and tolerability
