Arimidex (anastrozole) is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of breast cancer.

Indications:

– Treatment of early and advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women

– Treatment of hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women

Contraindications:

– Pregnancy or breastfeeding

– Hypersensitivity to anastrozole or any excipients

– Premenopausal women

Side Effects:

– Common: hot flashes, arthralgia, fatigue, osteoporosis, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

– Less common: skin rash, allergic reactions, thrombophlebitis, elevation of liver enzymes

Precautions:

– Regular monitoring of bone density and liver function

– Caution in patients with osteoporosis or liver impairment

– Caution in patients taking tamoxifen or estrogen-containing therapies
