Exevin Adult Nasal Drop is a nasal decongestant solution used to relieve nasal congestion (blocked nose) caused by colds, allergies, sinusitis, or other upper respiratory conditions. It works by reducing swelling in the nasal mucosa, making breathing through the nose easier.
Exevin Adult Nasal Drop is typically an OTC (over-the-counter) medicine for symptomatic relief of nasal congestion in adults and adolescents over 12 years.
Nasal decongestant (symptomatic relief of nasal congestion) — belongs to the class of sympathomimetic nasal decongestants, similar to other xylometazoline products.
Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v — the active decongestant.
Benzalkonium chloride — a preservative.
Nasal drops solution designed specifically for adult use (not paediatric). It’s a liquid formulation that is instilled into the nostrils.
Topical (intranasal) use only.
Drops are applied directly into the nostrils; they are not taken by mouth.
Adults and children over 12 years: 2–3 drops in each nostril 2–3 times daily.
Do not use continuously for more than 7 days — prolonged use can cause rebound congestion (worsening of congestion after stopping).
Avoid touching the dropper tip to the inside of the nose to prevent contamination and infection.
Possible side effects include:
Stinging or burning sensation inside the nose.
Dryness of nasal mucosa or irritation.
Headache, dizziness, nervousness.
Rare but serious allergic reactions: swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe rash.
Rebound nasal congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa) if used longer than recommended.
Typically supplied in a small bottle (e.g., 10 ml) with a dropper cap for nasal administration.
Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date.
Once opened, use within the timeframe indicated on the label (often within 6 months).
Use for short-term relief only — typically no more than 7 days to avoid rebound congestion.
Avoid use if you are taking medicines that may increase blood pressure or are on alpha or beta-blockers unless a clinician advises otherwise.
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless directed by a doctor.
Avoid direct contact of drops with the eyes.
Do not share with other people to reduce the risk of spreading infections.
Other nasal decongestants with the same active ingredient (and similar use) include:
Otrivin 0.1% Adult Nasal Drops/Spray (xylometazoline) — provides temporary relief of nasal congestion.
Drutivin Adult Nasal Drops (xylometazoline 0.1%) — similar decongestant action.
Other generics containing xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1%.
