Active Ingredients/Composition: 

Each tablet provides a total of 625 mg of active medication consisting of:

  • Amoxicillin (500mg): A penicillin-class antibiotic that halts bacterial growth by breaking down bacterial cell walls.
  • Clavulanic Acid (125mg): As potassium clavulanate, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks bacterial defence enzymes, keeping the amoxicillin effective. 

Minerals: 

Contains small trace, non-therapeutic amounts of potassium from the clavulanate salt.

Variant: 

625mg Tablet variant (typically available in a 14-tablet blister pack). Exoclav is also manufactured in 1000mg strengths for adults and as an oral liquid suspension for children. 

Consume Type: 

Oral use only (swallowed whole with a drink of water). 

Directions/Usage:

  • Dosage: Standard adult dosing is typically one 625mg tablet taken every 8 to 12 hours (two to three times a day) based on infection severity.
  • Administration: Take the tablet immediately before or at the start of a main meal. This maximizes absorption and minimizes gastrointestinal upset.
  • Duration: Finish the entire prescribed course precisely as ordered by your doctor, even if symptoms vanish early, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Common Side Effects: Diarrhoea or loose stools (highly common), nausea, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal discomfort, or mild skin rashes. Oral or vaginal thrush (fungal overgrowth) can sometimes occur.

Storage Advice:

 Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep the tablets inside their original packaging to shield them from ambient moisture, and store safely away from children. 

Safety Advice: Contraindicated in anyone with a known history of severe hypersensitivity or allergic shock to penicillin’s, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Do not take if you have a prior history of amoxicillin-related jaundice or liver impairment.
