COMPOSITION
Each 5ml syrup contains Carbocisteine 5% 1, (250mg) for adults.
INDICATIONS
Flemex is a mucolytic agent for the adjunctive therapy of respiratory tract disorders characterised by excessive viscous mucus, including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
DOSAGE
Flemex Adult
2 – 5 years: 1½ teaspoonfuls (7.5ml) 3 times daily
5 – 6 years: 2½ teaspoonfuls (12.5ml) 3 times daily
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Flemex is contraindicated in:
Active peptic ulceration.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not take any Antitussive or any medication which dries up bronchial secretions during treatment with Flemex. In case of diabetes or low sugar diet the daily sugar intake should be taken into consideration.
SIDE EFFECTS
There have been rare reports of skin rashes or gastrointestinal bleeding occurring during treatment with Carbocisteine.
Others are nausea, headache, gastric discomfort,
diarrhoea, GI bleeding.
