Flucloxacillin 500mg capsules are light grey and maroon hard gelatin capsules containing white powder of flucloxacillin sodium. They are supplied in packs of 10 capsules.

Active Ingredient:
Flucloxacillin sodium equivalent to 250mg/500mg flucloxacillin per capsule.

Indications:
Antibacterial antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as skin, soft tissue and respiratory tract infections. Effective against Staphylococcus aureus.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to flucloxacillin, penicillins or cephalosporins. Caution in renal impairment.

Dosage:
Usual dose is 250-500mg every 6 hours, increased up to 1g every 6 hours for severe infections. Duration depends on type and severity of infection.

Added Information:
Capsules should be taken at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after food. Complete the full course as advised by the prescriber.

Caution:
Use cautiously in pregnancy and breastfeeding. May cause diarrhoea.

Side Effects:
Diarrhoea, fungal overgrowth, nausea, rash, hypersensitivity reactions.

Storage:
Store below 25°C in original container.
