Product description

Description:
Re-Zot is a combination antacid syrup used to relieve symptoms of gastric hyperacidity, heartburn, acid indigestion, and related gastric discomfort. It neutralizes excess stomach acid and provides symptomatic relief.

Prescription:
OTC (over-the-counter)

Therapeutic Category:
Gastrointestinal medicine — Antacid / Acid neutralizer

Active Ingredients / Composition:
According to Pokupharma’s product listing, each dosing unit (or per mL concentration) includes:

  • Dried aluminium hydroxide BP — 250 mg
  • Magnesium hydroxide BP — 250 mg
  • Activated dimethicone BP — 125 mg
  • Magnesium trisilicate BP — 250 mg
  • Alginic acid BP — 200 mg

These combine to reduce acidity, buffer gastric pH, and help relieve gas.

Vitamins:
None.

Minerals:
Yes, metal hydroxides/trisilicates (aluminium, magnesium) as part of the antacid components (though these are not in the sense of dietary minerals for nutrition).

Variant:
Liquid syrup / suspension formulation (antacid syrup). “200 mL” refers to the bottle size.

Consume Type:
Oral — swallowed. The syrup is taken by mouth.

Directions / Usage:

  • Use as directed by a physician or as printed in package insert (local label).
  • Often administered in measured doses (e.g. spoonfuls or mL doses) after meals and at bedtime or when symptoms arise.
  • Shake well before use (common for suspensions). (Though I didn’t find a specific instruction for Re-Zot, this is standard for antacid syrups.)

Common Side Effects:
Antacid syrups with aluminium and magnesium compounds / trisilicates may cause:

  • Diarrhea (from magnesium)
  • Constipation (from aluminium)
  • Flatulence, belching
  • Nausea / stomach discomfort
  • Altered bowel habits
  • Overuse may lead to electrolyte or mineral imbalances (especially in renal impairment)

Package Type:
Bottle (liquid container) — 200 mL size. (Often with measuring cap or dropper)

Storage Advice:

  • Store in a cool, dry place (room temperature)
  • Protect from light and moisture
Keep out of reach of children
  • Close bottle tightly after use
    Discard after expiry date

Safety Advice / Precautions:

  • Do not exceed recommended dosage (risk of systemic side effects)
  • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (reduced ability to excrete aluminium, magnesium)
  • Avoid in patients with severe kidney disease
  • Long-term use should be monitored (because of risks of aluminium toxicity, etc.)
  • Avoid using at the same time as certain medications (e.g. some antibiotics, thyroid medications, bisphosphonates) — antacids can interfere with absorption; separate dosing by a few hours
  • Seek medical advice if symptoms (e.g. heartburn) persist beyond a few days, worsen, or are accompanied by other red flags (e.g. bleeding, weight loss, difficulty swallowing)

Product Substitutes:
Other antacid formulations (liquid or tablets) with similar active ingredients, for example:

  • Liquid antacid combinations of aluminium hydroxide + magnesium hydroxide + simethicone
    Magnesium trisilicate mixtures
Other branded antacid syrups or tablet antacid forms (depending on availability in your region)

Manufacturer / Marketer:
Pokupharma Limited lists Re-Zot syrup as one of its products.
