What is Amlodipine? Amlodipine belongs to a group of medicines called calcium antagonists.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT
Each tablet contains: Amlodipine Besilate B.P. equivalent to Amlodipine 5mg.
INDICATIONS
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Angina pectoris (pain or discomfort in the chest)
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adults:Â
The usual starting dose is 5mg once daily. If necessary, you doctor may increase the dose to 10mg once daily.
Use in children and adolescents (6-17 years old)
Recommended usual starting dose is 2.5mg a day. Maximum 5mg a day.
Elderly patients
Start with low doses and increase gradually with care.
ADDED INFORMATION
Amlodipine tablet can be taken before or after food and drinks
Take the tablet at the same time each day with a glass of water.
CAUTION
Do not take amlodipine with grapefruits
Use with caution in patients with heart failure.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Ankle Edema, Dizziness, Flushing, Palpitation, arrhythmia, tachycardia, neuropathy peripheral, allergic reaction. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days
STORAGE
Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original package
