Description:

Augmentin is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria in different body parts. It contains two medications: Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a type of penicillin antibiotic that can sometimes become inactive, but clavulanic acid prevents this.

Directions/Usage:
Take as prescribed by physician, usual adult dose is one tablet every 8 or 12 hours.

Common Side Effects:
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

Safety advice:
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactams e.g., Penicillins and cephalosporins.
Patients with a previous history of Augmentin associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.
Augmentin tablets are not recommended in children of 12 years and below.
Augmentin tablet packs contain desiccant sachets. Do not remove or eat.

Treatment should not be extended beyond 14 days without review
Tablets should be swallowed whole without chewing. If required, they may be broken in half and swallowed without chewing
Take the tablet at the start of a meal.

Common Side Effects:
Diarrhea, hypersensitivity, nausea, skin reactions, thrombocytopenia, vomiting, antibiotic associated colitis, arthralgia, dizziness, headache.

Storage:
Keep out of the sight and reach of children
Store in a dry place in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
Do not store above 30°C.
