• A combined antibacterial liquid suspension designed for infants and children to eliminate standard and beta-lactamase-producing (antibiotic-resistant) bacteria.

Active Ingredients/Composition:

•  Every 5ml of the prepared liquid suspension provides a total of 228.5 mg of active drug, consisting of:
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate USP: Equivalent to 200 mg of amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic that blocks bacterial cell wall synthesis).
  • Clavulanate Potassium USP: Equivalent to 28.5 mg of clavulanic acid (protects amoxicillin from being broken down by bacterial resistance enzymes). 
• Minerals: Contains potassium (derived from the active clavulanate potassium salt). 

Variant:

•  228.5mg/5ml paediatric strength suspension (the brand also features a higher 457mg/5ml strength liquid and 625mg/1000mg adult tablets). 

Consume Type:

•  Oral liquid use (administered enterally via an oral syringe or measuring spoon). 
• Directions/Usage:
  • Reconstitution: The dry powder must be shaken loosely, then mixed thoroughly with boiled and cooled water up to the ring mark on the bottle before the first dose.
  • Dosage: Must be precisely calculated based on the child’s body weight and infection severity by a clinician. It is typically administered every 12 hours (twice daily).
  • Administration: Give the dose immediately before or at the start of a meal to enhance absorption and lower the risk of an upset stomach. 

Common Side Effects: 

• Diarrhoea or loose stools (most common), nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, or temporary oral thrush (white fungal patches in the mouth). 

Package Type:

•  A high-density plastic or glass bottle containing dry powder for reconstitution, enclosed in a cardboard retail carton alongside a measuring cup or syringe. 

Storage Advice:

• Dry Powder: Store below 25°C in a dry place away from heat.
• After Reconstitution (Mixed Liquid): Must be stored in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Do not freeze. Any remaining liquid must be discarded after 7 to 10 days. 

Safety Advice: 

• Contraindicated in children with a known history of severe allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or any beta-lactam antibiotics. Do not use if the child has a history of amoxicillin-associated liver dysfunction or jaundice. Always complete the entire course of treatment exactly as prescribed, even if the child seems fully recovered, to prevent the return of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
