Description:
Ketesse 25mg is a film-coated tablet containing dexketoprofen trometamol, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class. It is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of acute pain of moderate to severe intensity in adults, such as musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhea (painful periods), dental pain, postoperative pain, migraine attacks, or other acute painful conditions.

Consume Type:
Directions/Usage:
Take with a full glass of water, preferably with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
- Adults: 1 tablet (25 mg) every 8 hours as needed (maximum 3 tablets/75 mg per day).
- For severe pain or when rapid onset is required: May take on an empty stomach (onset faster).
- Duration: Short-term only (usually 3–5 days; do not exceed 7 days without medical advice).
- Elderly or patients with mild-moderate liver/kidney impairment: Start with 1 tablet every 12 hours (max 50 mg/day). Do not exceed recommended dose or duration.
Common Side Effects:
- Nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia (indigestion), abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, rash, or photosensitivity. Serious (rare): Gastrointestinal bleeding/ulceration/perforation, renal impairment, increased blood pressure, heart failure exacerbation, or allergic reactions (rash, angioedema, anaphylaxis).

- Blister strip (Alu/Alu or PVC/PVDC/Alu) of 4, 10, 12, 20, or 50 tablets (most common in Ghana: 10s or 20s blister packs).
Storage Advice:
- Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister/packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
Safety Advice:
- Contraindicated in active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure, severe renal/hepatic impairment, history of NSAID-induced asthma/bleeding/allergic reactions, third trimester of pregnancy (risk of fetal harm), or hypersensitivity to dexketoprofen/NSAIDs/aspirin. Use caution in elderly, asthma, hypertension, heart disease, or with anticoagulants/antiplatelets (increased bleeding risk). Avoid alcohol (increases GI bleeding risk). Do not use with other NSAIDs or high-dose aspirin. Stop immediately and seek help for black/tarry stools, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood, chest pain, shortness of breath, or swelling. Not for children under 18 years. Pregnancy: Category C (avoid in 3rd trimester). Breastfeeding: Avoid (passes into milk).
