Active Ingredients/Composition

  • Each gram of ointment contains a highly effective dual-action formula:
    • Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride (5 mg) – A broad-spectrum antibiotic that stops bacteria from multiplying.
    • Polymyxin B Sulfate (10,000 IU) – A targeted antibiotic that breaks down bacterial cell walls.
    • Base: Formulated in a smooth, sterile petrolatum-mineral oil ointment base.

Consume Type:

  •  Topical ophthalmic use (strictly applied inside the eye or on eyelids). 

Usage & Safety Information

  • Directions/Usage:
    • Wash hands thoroughly before and after application.
    • Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pouch, and squeeze a small ribbon (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) of ointment into it.
    • Close your eye gently for 1 to 2 minutes to let the ointment melt and spread.
    • Do not touch the tube tip to your eye, finger, or any surface to keep it completely sterile.
    • Typically applied 3 to 4 times daily for 7 to 10 days. Always finish the full course even if your eye looks better. 

Common Side Effects

  • Generally well-tolerated. Temporary and minor side effects include:
    • Mild blurred vision for a few minutes right after application (normal for oily eye ointments).
    • Brief stinging, burning, or redness in the eye.

Storage Advice

  • Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Discard any remaining ointment 28 days after opening. 
  • Safety Advice:
    • Do not use if you are allergic to tetracyclines or polymyxin B.
    • Contact Lens Warning: Do not wear contact lenses while treating an active eye infection. If allowed by your doctor, remove lenses before using the ointment and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
    • Avoid driving or operating machinery immediately after application until your vision clears up.
