CHLORAMPHENICOL CAPS LETAP

Why do you need to give this medicine? This medication is used for Typhoid fever and life-threatening infections, particularly those caused by Haemophilus influenzae where other antibiotics will not suffice

INGREDIENTS

Each capsule contains 250mg of chloramphenicol

ADDED INFORMATION

This product also contains gelatin, talc, sodium lauryl suphate and magnesium stearate. Avoid its use if hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity.

Bone marrow suppression

Pregnant and lactating mothers

DOSAGE

For serious infections, including haemophilus influenza, 12.5mg/kg every 6 hours.

The dose can be doubled in case of life threatening infections.

Max dose: 3g

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS 

This drug can lead to nausea, vomiting, and ototoxicity. These adverse effects are rare. Report to the pharmacist or physician if side effects worsen or last more than a few days.

WARNING

Do not give this medication to infants due to risk of gray baby syndrome.

Discontinue drug if sever adverse effects are seen, and report to the hospital.

STORAGE

Store in a dry place with temperature maximum of 30oC. Protect from sunlight.
